Star Student: Engineering

Briony Houghton

Briony Houghton is a VRQ Level two engineering student at West Cheshire College. Like many students, she completed her exams and wasn't sure what to do next. In her own words, she explains how she ended up on an Engineering course and what she plans to do next.

When I left school I wasn’t sure what I should do, so I approached the College. After looking at the range of courses on offer, I decided to study Engineering, and I enrolled on the VRQ course.

I’ve been here for one year now, and I learned a lot of practical skills in addition to the theory. I definitely made the right choice by coming to College, as I’m really enjoying the course.

When I finish, I’m planning to progress to the BTEC Level 3 90 credit diploma in Engineering so I can study Engineering at university. When I finish studying, I’d love to work for a major UK engineering company.
