For students the merger will:

  • widen the range of learning provision and options
  • improve access to high quality resources and technologies, as well as further investment in new learning environments
  • ensure progression to higher education and employment for all learners through our close links with universities and employers
  • give access to expert teaching staff, industry-standard facilities, plus exceptional learner support
  • make you part of a large student network with 4,200 full-time 16-18 year old students, 900 adults, 800 international students, 1,300 Apprentices and 400 HE students

For employers the merger will:

  • offer you excellent education provision which will help local businesses fill their skills gaps – ensuring our economies continue to grow and thrive
  • enhance our existing employer links through the development of an effective employer engagement network that identifies and responds effectively to the training needs of employers and supports the regional economy
  • respond to the new apprenticeship standards and employer levy by offering a broader range of apprenticeships and training opportunities
  • provide learning relevant to your needs by responding to regional priorities and supporting economic and social development by working with the LEP, Chambers of Commerce and local business
  • offer opportunities to develop bespoke training and skills development


For communities the merger will:

  • offer more high quality learning opportunities for local people
  • increase community resources for learning and development through rationalised and improved community-based campuses
  • increase the College’s capacity to work with local organisations
  • ensure the College’s responsiveness to the Government’s policies, initiatives, remits and targets so that learners are able to gain the necessary skills and qualifications and contribute positively to the economy of the region
