West Cheshire College has launched a new full-time dance course in commercial dance to start in January 2014 following demand from budding dance stars of the future.
The course covers all aspects of dance including street dance, commercial jazz, choreography, tap, modern, ballet, contemporary and partner work.
Students can either study a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and all applicants need to have some dance experience as well as lots of enthusiasm.
Sharon Brown, Assistant Manager Performing Arts at West Cheshire College, said: “We decided to launch a new commercial dance course as there has been a lot of interest in it.
“Previously we have focussed on Musical Theatre, which we are still offering and demand is high but we have adapted our services to provide a dedicated course to reflect the demand for commercial dance.
“The course will cover all aspects of dance and will be an ideal way of getting the right skills and experience to carve a successful career in the industry as a performer.
“Our past students have been very successful in dance and have gained dance scholarships at a number of prestigious theatre schools including Millennium Performing Arts in London, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts as well as Masters and West London Creative Academy.”
Applicants will need to contact Sharon Brown for further information and an interview date before they are accepted on the course.
West Cheshire College is also taking on applicants for the BTEC Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre which covers dance, singing and acting as well as Level 2 and Level 3 Technical Theatre for the January intake.
